There are lots of reasons to consider remortgaging
Stop overpaying:
Is your current mortgage deal ending, or has it already ended?
When a fixed or tracker deal ends, you may move onto your lender’s Standard Variable Rate (SVR), which is typically higher than a fixed or tracker deal.
You don’t necessarily need to wait until your existing deal ends either. Depending on your circumstances, you may be able to secure a new mortgage deal several months in advance.
A remortgage review can show you where you stand and whether there could be a more suitable option available.
There are lots of reasons to consider remortgaging
Ease the pressure
Could remortgaging make your monthly finances simpler?
Managing credit cards, loans and other borrowing at different rates can make it difficult to see the full picture.
For some homeowners, remortgaging can provide an opportunity to consolidate borrowing into one monthly mortgage payment.
There are important considerations. Moving unsecured debt onto your mortgage can mean repaying it over a longer period, potentially increasing the total interest you pay, and the borrowing becomes secured against your home.
That’s why we’ll look beyond the immediate monthly payment and talk you through the wider costs and implications.
There are lots of reasons to consider remortgaging
Make your home work harder:
Could the equity in your property help fund your plans?
A new kitchen, loft conversion, extension or extra room could transform your home – without the expense and upheaval of moving.
If your property has increased in value or you’ve reduced your mortgage balance, you may have built up equity that could potentially be released through remortgaging.
We’ll help you understand how much equity you may have and whether remortgaging to fund your plans makes sense for you.

Help family onto the property ladder:
Could your property help give someone you love a head start?
If a family member is hoping to buy their first home, you may be considering helping with their deposit.
For some homeowners, releasing equity through a remortgage could provide the funds to make a gifted or lent deposit possible.
It’s an important financial decision and not something to rush. A mortgage review can help you understand what may be possible and the implications before you decide what to do.

It is one thing to be passionate about your job, but Trevor went far above and beyond that. He truly cares, and that was apparent at every single step of the journey. I don't normally write reviews, but on this occasion I can't help feel that a review is no where near enough of a gesture to express my appreciation and gratitude for the attention to detail, commitment and support that Trevor gave. He is most excellent at what he does, and if you take him on as your mortgage advisor you'll have made the absolute best choice possible. Connect mortgages please nominate Trevor for a mortgage advisor of the year award!![]()

My wife and I are beyond pleased with Connect Mortgages for all their support in presenting our mortgage application with a Spanish bank. Stephen Marcon was especially generous with his time and patience as we were getting to know the market. He promptly responded to my countless emails and questions which gave us huge confidence.![]()

FAQ : Frequently Asked Questions
Does the consultation cost anything?
No. Your initial mortgage review is completely free and there’s no obligation to proceed afterwards.
Can I remortgage before my fixed rate ends?
Potentially, yes. However, your existing mortgage may have an early repayment charge, so it’s important to consider the cost of leaving your current deal as well as the potential benefits of a new one.
How much equity do I have in my home?
Your equity is broadly the difference between your property’s value and the amount outstanding on your mortgage. As part of reviewing your options, we can help you understand how your current property value and mortgage balance could affect the options available.
Will checking my options affect my credit score?
No. An initial conversation doesn’t involve a credit check. If you decide to proceed, your adviser will explain when any lender checks may be required.
Do I have to remortgage with my existing lender?
No. Staying with your existing lender may be one option, but it isn’t the only one. Connect has access to over 200 lenders, allowing us to consider a wider range of options based on your circumstances.
When should I start looking at remortgaging?
You don’t necessarily need to wait until your current mortgage deal ends. Depending on the lender and product, it may be possible to arrange a new deal several months before your existing one finishes. A review can help you understand the right time to start based on your current mortgage.
Can I borrow more when I remortgage?
Depending on your circumstances, property value, affordability and the lender’s criteria, it may be possible to increase your mortgage borrowing. Home improvements and helping family with a property deposit are examples of reasons homeowners may consider doing this.
Can I remortgage to consolidate debts?
It may be possible to consolidate existing borrowing through a remortgage. However, this can mean converting unsecured borrowing into debt secured against your home and repaying it over a longer period, which could increase the overall interest paid. We can talk you through the costs and implications as part of your review.
Does a mortgage review mean I have to remortgage?
No. The purpose of the review is to understand your circumstances and options. There’s no obligation to proceed.
